Literally, a ‘Balance‘ is an apparatus for weighing things. After or before weighing things, its normal position is that of equilibrium in which two interdependent opposite elements are in balance. They have equal status in the normal position. This is what we use in the material world in our day to day life. In the physical body of the living beings, there too is such a faculty which measures and assesses the situation, utility of an object or thoughts etc. which advises the physical body to do or not any action or reaction accordingly. This faculty is our mind.
The work of the mind is that of balance which, on observation by the five senses given to the living beings by Nature, analyses the matter referred to it and tells its both the positive and negative effects without any suggestion or recommendation for the preference in its use. This is heart, where feelings generate, who decides, suggests or recommends the course to be adopted. For instance, about a poison, the mind says only that it is a poison and one will die if it is taken. The mind does not suggest that it should be taken or not. The suggestions come from the heart to the mind whether how and why the poison should be taken or not. Thus, the heart is a playground of mind. If on a decision both mind and heart confirm, the decision will be the best in the eyes of Nature or God. A balanced mind analyses a subject once and then it goes back to balance. If the mind has to generate thoughts about the same subject on suggestion from the heart, the mind keeps on busy continuously in analysing the subject. Sometimes, on the repeated suggestions on some other subject, the mind switches over from one half analysis to deal with the second subject irrespective of the fact that the previous thought was not analysed completely. In this situation, incomplete files get automatically pushed in the sub-conscious layer of mind where they become solid and take a form of samskara which serve as a covering around the soul. At present time, on an analysis of human behaviour, we will find that often the individual mind remains busy in analysing this or that subject dealing with complete or incomplete analysis without any reference of any subject to it. This shows that human mind is not in balance otherwise after the analysis of a subject, it should go in balance without any thought of any kind. Sometimes, an individual does not want to think about a subject already analysed, still repetition of the same thought or with some alteration generation of thoughts continues. One even feels tired, still one fails in checking the mind from thinking. This means that one’s will power has also become weak to control the loose bridles of the mind horse which runs independently or in an uncontrolled fashion. It stops only when another important subject is in reference. The previous chain of thoughts is automatically pushed to the sub conscious layer of mind.
Now a question arises as how to bring back the mind to a balance so that it may act according to one’s will. Just as the human mind of to-day is a result of a gradual development from a simple to a complex form, it has to return back to its original form where it was in a balanced position. All the accumulated complexities, in the form of samskaras are to melt down to acquire the original status. In a way, the subtle bodies or coverings around the soul are to be removed to have a balanced mind. For this the addition of new impressions or samskaras is to be stopped simultaneously with the clearance of the past accumulated stock of samskaras. This has been made possible by Sadguru Shri Ram Chanderji of Shahjahanpur, U.P. (popularly known as Babuji Maharaj) who has founded a remodeled system of Rajyoga under the name of Sahaj Marg. He is a Special Divine Personality who, even after leaving His physical form in 1983, is still helping the humanity by the transmission of His Divine Grace all the time to the lovers of God. He has prescribed a Divine living which includes meditation in the morning, cleaning in the evening, prayer at bed time with efforts to discharge all the worldly duties of life in the remembrance of God. If a person is busy in his necessary worldly duties at the prescribed time of puja, he can adjust the timings of puja accordingly.
Now we have to see how the life style as recommended by Babuji Maharaj is helpful in controlling the unbalanced tendencies of mind and freeing the heart from unnecessary burden. Babuji Maharaj selected heart as the only point of meditation on plea that if the heart is Divinised, the person meditating will be Divinised from head to foot automatically, because heart is a supplier of pure blood to all organs of the body. There is no need of meditating on different points because all other stations in the human body will get awakened in a natural way. We can also experience how this happens. Through meditation Divine Grace is injected into the heart and constant remembrance spreads the Grace in whole of the system. The regular practice by the abhyasi and continuous help of Babuji Maharaj through the transmission of His Grace take the abhyasi at an enormous speed to the goal of attaining total balance which, in other words, can be said to be ‘God Realization‘, oneness with God, where all complexities are over. All subtle bodies around the soul are removed either by Bhoga process or by the Grace of Babuji Maharaj. Human heart becomes fully calm and mind thinks only that much which is referred to it otherwise it too remains silent drowned in the Divine Grace. The worldly duties discharged in the constant remembrance of God makes God as the doer of deeds who Himself is Zero and as such no impressions are formed. The individuality or “I-ness‘ get totally merged in God.
Living and leading a Divine life is the only way to return back to the original position where the lost equilibrium can be regained. Babuji Maharaj has said, “The Divinisation of the human system will make all the faculties, in such a man, act in coordination with one another which will be in conformity with Nature“. Such man will do all works and perform all actions treating them to be all from, for and by God. The sense of duty and necessity will be there. This will save him from indulgence and bring him back to a balance after every action. In fact duty and necessity are the balancing factors which, if are used, will make the life such that there will be no impression left. Both mind and heart will be free after every action because a person doing something as a duty does not bother for the result or reward. The file of thoughts is closed the moment the duty is completed. Similarly, necessity plays an important role in living a Divine life because the limit of necessity is allowed by Nature or God which saves one from indulgence.
This all supports the fact that one should do all actions in life in the remembrance of God which only can make a life to live in balance. Whether in sleep or in action, this way, one can remain in the remembrance of God. The normal condition of mind and heart of such person is silence or balance, because all unwanted obstructions are cleared and Divine Grace occupies the whole system. The action or reaction will be controlled, decided and regulated by necessity of the situation which will leave no impression. Thus a Divine life only can help us in maintaining balance in all walks of life.
